Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead

Gilda is a twenty-something atheist, animal lover, and lesbian who can’t stop obsessing over death. Desperate to quiet her anxious mind and estranged from her repressive family, she answers a flyer offering free therapy at a local Catholic church. When she arrives, Father Jeff mistakes her for a job applicant—and, too embarrassed to correct him, Gilda finds herself hired as the church receptionist, replacing the recently deceased Grace.

As Gilda struggles to fake her way through Catholic Mass, keep her new girlfriend a secret, and maintain some semblance of order in her crumbling apartment, she begins corresponding with Grace’s old friend through the church email account. Unable to tell the kindly woman that Grace has died, Gilda starts impersonating her instead.

But when the police begin investigating the suspicious circumstances surrounding Grace’s death, Gilda’s increasingly tangled lies threaten to unravel. Soon, she may have no choice but to come clean about Grace—and her own deeply mortifying life.
