By 2032, Lauren Olamina has survived the devastation of her home and family, and brought her vision to life: a fledgling community in Northern California built on the principles of Earthseed, the faith she founded. In a fractured, volatile America—now ruled by an ultra-conservative president promising to "make America great again"—Lauren's haven becomes a refuge for the marginalized and persecuted. But as Earthseed grows, its radical ideals and its young Black female leader draw the wrath of President Jarret’s authoritarian regime.

Years later, Asha Vere, a daughter raised in the shadow of loss, begins reading the journals of the mother she never knew—Lauren Olamina. As she unravels the truth about Lauren’s choices, sacrifices, and unshakable vision, Asha is forced to confront her own identity and the burden of a legacy shaped by both love and revolution.
