Arriving at a holiday villa in the hills above Nice, Joe is startled to find a young woman floating in the swimming pool. She is alive—and she claims to be Kitty Finch, a botanist whose unexpected presence unsettles the fragile balance of the family vacation.

As Kitty ingratiates herself with the household, long-buried tensions and hidden desires begin to surface. Joe's enigmatic wife allows her to stay, setting in motion a chain of events that exposes the secrets each family member has tried to keep from themselves.
