Beneath the mysterious city of Veniss lies a labyrinth of tunnels, mines, and forgotten horrors, a place where biological artists reshape living matter, and where human beings can be discarded, transformed, or recycled into something unrecognizable.
When Nicholas, an aspiring Artist, descends beneath the city, he finds himself drawn into a nightmare that will also consume his twin sister, Nicola, and her former lover, Shadrach. Told from their three perspectives, Veniss Underground follows their separate journeys into the depths of a decadent future where the boundaries between human and monster, art and flesh, memory and obsession have begun to disappear.
As the three confront the strange creatures and living creations lurking beneath Veniss, their descent becomes something larger than a journey through an underground city. It becomes a journey into the darkest reaches of love, grief, desire, and identity—and into a world where nothing remains unchanged for long.
Surreal, grotesque, and mythic in scope, Veniss Underground is a descent into a world of biological horror and impossible beauty, where the deeper you go, the less certain it becomes what (or who) you will find waiting below.
