Vineland

Vineland, a zone of blessed anarchy in northern California, stands as the last refuge of hippiedom—a culture battered by the sobriety epidemic, Reaganomics, and the Tube.

In an Orwellian 1984, Zoyd Wheeler and his daughter, Prairie, set out in search of Prairie’s long-lost mother, a Sixties radical who vanished after running off with a narc. Along the way, Vineland reveals itself as classic Pynchon: crowded with quasi-allegorical figures, baroque and unresolved subplots, corny songs, movie parodies , and illicit sex.
